When I wrote this article, I was very much thinking of Australian cities. Or those in the Middle East. But we're now seeing persistent highs above 30 degrees in Ireland. 45 in France. In Germany, the Rhine is running dry and everywhere heat-related deaths are soaring. Heat-proofing our cities is not optional anymore.
